UNOH Driver Aiden Hervey and Crew in Victory Lane
Written by Contributing Columnist Chance Holley, Motorsports Team Assistant Coach
The UNOH Motorsports Team found itself in a familiar location Friday night – victory lane at the ¼ mile Limaland Motorsports Park. The trip was driven and directed by the crew of the #1 UNOH Stock Car team, lead by first year Driver Aiden Hervey and Crew Chief Logan Graham. After qualifying 4th and finishing a respectable 3rd in a wild heat race, East Corinth, Vermont native Hervey found himself leading the feature to green from the pole position. A strong challenge from multi time track champion Todd Sherman was cut short when Sherman suffered mechanical issues, bringing out the caution. Upon resumption of the race, Hervey and the UNOH team were challenged on the bottom of the track by veteran Tony Anderson in the 22T and by the 7C of Jordan Conover who utilized the momentum of a challenging cushion to gain on the leaders.
As the checkered flew, it was Hervey narrowly beating out Conover’s last lap, turn 4 charge to bring the UNOH Motorsports team to victory lane. UNOH Racer CJ Permann was able to bring the UNOH #01 home in the hard charger position by passing 6 cars and securing a 5th place finish. UNOH #00 Driver Trace Settles was also able to improve his position in the feature, passing 5 cars for an 8th place finish.
The Otterly Baths UMP Modified competition saw strong qualifying efforts from both UNOH Longhorns Chassis teams. Moran, KS native Dylan Drake in the UNOH #11 recorded a 14.537 lap of record, good enough for 4th place in the 24 car field. That mark was eclipsed by UNOH #1 Driver Eric Kinney II, Crew Chief Wilson Owens and the rest of the #1 crew with a time of 14.285, quick time for the night. A stacked heat race saw both UNOH cars in tight battles with Eric Kinney finishing 3rd and Dylan Drake coming in 6th. Kinney and the #1 car would advance directly to the A Main, while Drake and the #11 would advance by virtue of a 2nd place finish in the B Main. Both cars would finish the A Main without damage, with Kinney recording a 9th place finish and Drake coming home 16th.
The UNOH Motorsports Team looks forward to returning to Limaland Motorsports Park Friday, June 12th for Modified Mayhem. Classes include the Otterly Baths UMP Modifieds, the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks, USAC D2 Midgets and the second visit of the Dirt Track Truck Series.
